Fantastic For Children

I love this cafe. It is right by the river so beautifully placed for watching the river and boats flow past. The gardens are a little treasure trove and fantastic for children as there are statues, animals, all sorts of interesting things hidden in the flowers and trees. The food and coffee are lovely and the folks serving are bubbly and friendly.I would thouroughly recommend a visit to Lilys :)

Wonderful Cream Tea

We found this tea garden near our hotel and stopped for a cream tea. The garden is beautiful along the bank of the river. The staff were very friendly and there was a lovely atmosphere. A real gem.

A gem by river and welcomes dogs

We found this quite by accident after finding the location of the bus station. It welcomes dogs and has lovely views of the river.the garden is divided into lots of small areas and decorated with all kinds of ornaments,Buddhas and stuffed toys!

The staff are very friendly and helpful and the cake and bagel we had were delicious.

They serve real leaf tea in a pot. By the marks on the door by the toilets they have risen above several severe floods.well worth a visit!

Better than tea at The Ritz

We came across this gem of a place by accident and after a perfect brunch we just had to go back for afternoon tea. for service, value, setting, quality of staff and food It can't be bettered. I know where I would like a repeat visit and it is nowhere near London.

A definite must if you are in the area

Hidden gem & so much more than just tea

Lily's is less than 100 yards from Shrewsbury railway station on the banks of the Severn yet tucked out sight of the main road which passes by.

It's a snug hidden gem with basic, but very tasty food at extraordinarily good prices.

Flowers and plants in abundance: it's like eating in a friend's garden.

The service was efficient, friendly and courteous, even on a busy Saturday lunchtime.

Very highly recommended!

Lovely setting on the banks of the River Severn

Just called in for a couple of drinks on a sunny evening before going in to town for a meal.

Lovely setting on the banks of the river felt like we were in a secret garden.

Just the place to unwind after work and a pleasant change from a busy bar.

Greatest cafe in Shrewsbury

I was taken there by a friend and thought it was going to cost a lot, but it was amazingly low priced, its location is one of most picturesque spots in the town center, the service was so friendly, from the first moment i sat down it felt like i was a honoured guest in someone garden, flowers everywhere, clearly a lot of work goes into making the cafe look so beautiful, the staff were so friendly, i sat at a table over looking the river, it was so relaxing and despite being in the heart of the town center i could not hear the traffic from the main road nearby, looking forward to my next visit, most certainly the main stop for me when i am in the town center and wanting to sit down for a cuppa and a bite to eat.

Excellent place for afternoon tea

I brought my husband here for afternoon tea and we were not disappointed by the quality or quantity of the food.

Tea was served in floral china cups and loose leaf tea was used (not a tea bag in sight!)

The surroundings would have been tranquil and relaxing had it not been for an inebriate group at the next table.

Maybe it would be better just to serve soft drinks and beverages!

Wonderful!

My mums friend was coming over and wanted to go somewhere special. Nothing quite comoares to this beautiful place.

Almost like a forgotten place away from crowds. She loved it although it closes for the worse months we will be going again soon.

Wonderful surprise

Came across Lily's by chance. I must admit when we looked over the wall to see a jungle below we were a bit put off.

However, and thankfully, we decided to go for it. Had a lovely lunch by the river. Washed down with beer and a glass of wine.

Also couldn't resist the best carrot cake ever. I was so annoyed with that miserable husband of mine for not leaving a tip, ggrrr!

Something different

Having spent a pleasant day in Shrewsbury and having already sampled a few of the towns cafes we stumbled upon Lilys.

If it wasn't for the sign you wouldn't even know it was there.

Hidden away thru a gate, down a set of steps, make you way thru the 'jungle' :) and you find yourself riverside.A really delightful setting.

Tea was served in mums best china....with biccies !

Like no other place I have visited.

Not expensive either.Oh and if your tastes go beyond tea/coffee there's alcohol on offer too and food although we didn't try any.

Fantastic find

What a brilliant and beautiful tea garden.

Very pleased to have been introduced to this little gem of a place.

You're sure of a very warm welcome and the best cup of tea in Shrewsbury.

Very affordable afternoon tea set on the banks of the river in a beautiful wild flower garden. I'm certain to make this a regular spot.

Secret Garden in Shrewsbury

We came for afternoon tea and Lily was very hospitable.

Tea was excellent - real tea leaves! Setting was unusually quiet overlooking the river via some steps into a 'secret' garden.

They also welcome dogs

The nicest place in Shrewsbury.

We have been to this delightful garden cafe several times and never been disappointed. The setting is gorgeous and full of character. As others have said it is accessed down some steps off the main road into a wonderful secret garden full of mature plants and quirky decorations and we discover new ones every time we visit. It is all outdoors but there is plenty of shade if wanted and the views of the river are outstanding. It is quite rightly popular but we have always found a seat, or the staff will produce a table and chairs from storage somewhere.

The cafe is closed in winter but this is for very good reasons. Firstly sitting outside by the river in the cold lacks appeal unless you are very hardy. Secondly and importantly, the garden appears to flood every winter as there are chalk marks on the toilet door to show how high it floods. One flood is as high as the toilet door!

I have been here with my husband and my children several times and the staff are unfailingly cheerful and helpful. The food is fresh, generous portions and very reasonably priced. My husband had a large ham baguette served with coleslaw(home made and very good) and chips. I had salmon fishcakes, coleslaw and chips with the nicest lemon drizzle cake and cream.

As it was a lovely hot day we also ordered 2 ciders which arrived in pint glasses. My husband commented that was very good value at £2.00 each. We spent a very enjoyable long lunch eating and and watching the ducks on the river and left feeling full and happy from another Lily's experience.

There are a lot of nice places to eat in Shrewsbury but I really believe that on a sunny day Lily's is just the nicest place in Shrewsbury.

Quirky, leafy, pretty garden overlooking the River Severn

I love this place!! Beautiful setting in a quirky, leafy, pretty garden overlooking the River Severn. Feels like you're on holiday here, so tranquil...

It was a gorgeous sunny day when we went yesterday and I honestly couldn't think of a more perfect place to sit and enjoy the sunshine. I only had a cold drink, so cannot comment on the food.

Good bar though, plenty of choice and cheap too! Good choice of places to sit, some seats in small private areas of the garden and very friendly staff - what more could you ask for?!!!
